Recent New York Trip Pics... Congratulations to Rob for tenure at NYU!

Black Tie Optional?

What is it?

Ultimately, Jon and I want you to come to the wedding no matter how you are dressed. Nevertheless, if you would like to know what we actually mean by "Black Tie Optional"... the wedding is a formal occasion. The formality is due to the time of the wedding (it seems that noon is one of top formal wedding times); the size of the guest list; and the size of our wedding party.

The biggest thing to remember is that Black Tie Optional is not a step below semi-formal but a step above. Ultimately, it is a black/dark suit with option of a different conservative tie. The dark suit is not optional. I have noticed in the South that people tend think the term means that formal or informal attire should be worn as it is optional... though this is incorrect.

If you'd like to know more detail about what others are wearing please see:

I hope this helps you all who are traveling from far away with packing as well.

**Also- thank you to you all who have completed an RSVP online and/or by mail. I have never received so many kind "accepts" or "regrets", despite our not requiring the RSVP. Jon and I both thank you.

Real Estate Sign Support Works...

Problem Solved.

As you can see, the yellow real estate sign came in handy during the move. Jon is a lawyer by day and an engineer by night evidently. As you can see, the stairs fared well.

As a side note... the smaller gentleman (George, A.K.A. "Georgie") mentioned in passing that he moved Madonna's piano himself. Nice!

To RSVP or not to RSVP - that is the question.

Speaking of RSVP, our wedding invitation doesn't have one. We understand that this may not be the norm for some of you and have therefore set up an RSVP section on the wedding website at weddingchannel dot com for your convenience. Nonetheless, we are pleased to have you (RSVP or not) and look forward to having friends around at such a wonderful time in our lives.

Some People Have Asked More About the House...

so here are a few more pics. Enjoy!

This is outside the back door. Notice the sticker in the new window on right. It's somewhat cold here to not have good windows. The northerners reading this blog will relate well to this statement. We own the bottom floor only.

This is our lovely kitchen, still unfinished. Eventually this will look some form of yellow on the walls. Likely to be "Jonquil Yellow" (See Sherwin Williams). Notice the over 100 year old floors. Also notice the Cavaliers Symbol from UVA, courtesy of Jon.

This is one of the two full baths in the wrong color, by the way, but nevertheless in shape otherwise. I look forward to decorating and putting my feminine touch on the place; a different color as soon as possible; and a frame around the mirror. I'm open to suggestion on the color... looking into a warm taupe.

Thank you for reading along and I hope this helps especially Mrs. Mayfield who wanted to know. Let us know if you want to take us up on a visit to see "The Breakers" next summer.
